They are often deserted so other than our own restaurant and within local towns you will struggle to find beach huts selling refreshments and food:

- No Water sports hubs other than at Loch Ken

What is the closest sandy beach to Gatehouse of Fleet?
By bike or walking Sandgreeen is 20 minutes or an just over an hour on foot. Mossyard Beach by car is 5 minutes away a and a 200 yd walk from the car park.
Are the Dumfries and Galloway beaches suitable for older visitors?
Most of them are readily enjoyed by a short walk from the dedicated car parks with no steep descents but check with us first if in doubt?
Which beaches are suitable for walking and swimming?
Mossyard, Sandgreen and Carrick Bay are ideal for both. Shallow run offs and firm under foot.
Are the beaches easy to access?
Yes for the most part they are all easily accessible, reachable by short drives, with nearby parking and do not take up a huge time commitment. So while it should be easy bear in mind that if you have children or the elderly in your care then as ever caution with a new environment should be exercised.
